About MAP

Since 1979, MAP for Nonprofits has worked to strengthen the Minnesota nonprofit community by connecting organizations to sound governance, strategy, and finance and accounting practices.  On Jan. 1, 2017, MAP merged with Nonprofits Assistance Fund.  Because our programs are complementary but not overlapping, the combination will result in a more holistic approach to services that meets a larger set of nonprofits’ needs, including the ability to more closely link strategy, governance, and finance and to support nonprofits throughout their organizational lifecycle.  The SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration provided a grant to help fund the merger exploration.

As we move forward in 2017, we are planning how we can best achieve our new mission and vision through our new organization. We anticipate launch of our new brand and a move to a new location, in Summer 2017.

New Mission

Fueling the impact and effectiveness of nonprofits with guidance, expertise and capital

New Vision

A diverse network of mission-driven nonprofits building a healthy, vibrant and more just community.

Our Role

The Minnesota nonprofit, social and philanthropic sector relies upon MAP as a trusted resource. We work with hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals each year, building their capacity to govern, lead, identify strategy and operate organizations effectively. Through consulting and training, our experienced staff members deliver a unique mix of services to strengthen the sector and communities. We are unique from other consulting firms due to our nonprofit structure, community vision, community partnerships, and pricing structure.

Our Beginning

In 1979, a group of Twin Cities community leaders proposed to share the management talents enjoyed by the for-profit business sector with nonprofit organizations to help nonprofits meet growing community needs. Management Assistance Project later became MAP for Nonprofits, and transformed to a staff-model consulting and service group that merged with Nonprofits Assistance Fund Jan. 1, 2017.

Our Services
